Originally from North Carolina, David Edwards’ creative talents were cultivated while attending the University of South Carolina. Although he officially received a BA in psychology, Edwards’ first photography classes transformed him into a self-proclaimed “darkroom rat.” Edwards took every available photography class in the Art and Journalism Schools at USC and excelled at his new passion. His first photography subjects included Appalachian people and places and children. After moving to Charleston, SC, in 1990, his photography repertoire has expanded to include architecture, landscape, and figure studies. He began his freelance photography business in 1995, and has been capturing the landscapes, portraits, and weddings in the Charleston, SC area ever since.
Edwards has taught photography and worked as a freelance photographer since 1989. His work has been published nationally and locally. His photography has been exhibited in venues including the Charleston City Gallery, Art Fields, Gibbes Museum of Art, the McKissick Museum of Art, Tiemakers Gallery, and the Southern Visions exhibit, York County Museum, York, SC.
He is currently represented at Corrigan Gallery, 38 Queen Street, Charleston, SC.
